LargeV Holds Kickoff Meeting for China-Finland International Science and Technology Cooperation Project under National Key R&D Program

On January 15, 2025, the kickoff meeting for the "Key Technology Research on Low-Dose Intelligent 3D Oral Imaging Systems" project, a special initiative under the Chinese National Key R&D Program's "Intergovernmental International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation", was grandly held at the Dongsheng Science and Technology Park Conference Center in Haidian District, Beijing.

Led by LargeV, the project brings together top domestic and international partners, including Finland's Detection Technology, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, and Beijing Stomatological Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, to collaboratively advance research and innovation in the field.

The meeting welcomed government representatives from China and Finland, key leaders from the project's coordinating institutions, as well as experts from both industry and academia. The session was hosted by Wang Yajie, Vice General Manager of LargeV and Project Lead.

First, Zhang Wenyu, General Manager of LargeV, delivered an enthusiastic welcome speech, expressing gratitude to all attending leaders and experts. After briefly reviewing the company’s achievements since its establishment, he emphasized the desire to further strengthen collaboration with Detection Technology (DT) through this project. He highlighted the shared commitment to advancing technological innovation in dental CT and artificial intelligence, fostering industry development, and creating new business opportunities.

Wang Linxia, Project Officer of the European Division at the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, extended congratulations on the successful approval of the project on behalf of the supervising authority. She noted that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Finland, making the launch of the Low-Dose Intelligent 3D Oral Imaging System project a significant milestone in China-Finland scientific and technological cooperation. This initiative highlights the deep integration between the two countries in the field of dental medicine. She expressed hope that the collaboration would lead to breakthroughs in medical and healthcare innovation, ultimately benefiting more patients.

Next, Ms. Melissa Säilä, Minister Counsellor and Head of the Trade and Economic Section at the Embassy of Finland in China, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the project, which is jointly funded by the Chinese and Finnish governments. She highlighted that this collaboration underscores the project's importance and noted that China's innovative practices in the healthcare system serve as a valuable reference for Finland and the global community. She expressed confidence that this innovative partnership would lay a solid foundation for future commercial cooperation and looked forward to seeing fruitful outcomes from the project.

Lin Hang, Deputy District Mayor of Haidian District, Beijing, expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Finland in China for its attention and support. She emphasized that this collaboration represents a strategic alliance between leading enterprises from both countries, marking a significant step toward jointly exploring global markets. She reaffirmed Haidian District’s commitment to fully supporting the project's successful implementation, contributing to strengthening China's competitive edge in the global medical imaging sector.

Dr. Mika Klemettinen, Head of Innovation for China at Business Finland, delivered a virtual speech, highlighting the global challenges we face today and the crucial role of innovation and collaboration in addressing them. He expressed confidence that by combining Finland’s strengths in green digital technology and sustainable innovation with China’s vast market potential, the partnership would generate strong momentum for sustainable development.


Following this, Wu Hongxin, Vice General Manager of LargeV, and Hannu Martola, President and CEO of Detection Technology, delivered detailed presentations to the attendees. They provided in-depth insights into the development history, corporate vision, technologies, products, and future collaboration plans of their respective companies.

During the project team report session, Wang Yajie, Vice General Manager of LargeV and the Chinese project lead, along with Jyrki Still, Chief Technology Officer of Detection Technology and the Finnish project lead, presented detailed reports to the attendees and experts. They outlined the research focus, implementation plan, project objectives, timeline, and expected outcomes of the initiative.

After the project reports, several industry and academic experts provided guidance and recommendations, including Dr. Wang Yonggang, Vice President of Nuctech Nuctech Technology Co., Ltd.; Professor Xu Jing from Tsinghua University; Professor Cheng Long from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Xu Mingming, Director of Scientific Research at Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology; Jiang Xi, Director at the same institution; and Sanorita Li, Head of Healthcare, Food, and Consumer Products for Business Finland in China.


While acknowledging the project’s implementation plan and early achievements, the experts offered valuable insights based on their respective expertise, addressing assessment metrics, cross-unit collaboration, and practical application. They emphasized the need to further refine and enhance key performance indicators, aiming to resolve critical clinical challenges through hardware and algorithm optimization. The experts also stressed the importance of accelerating the transition from research to clinical application to maximize the project's impact.


During the discussion session, the attendees engaged in in-depth conversations about the project's implementation details, technical challenges, and collaboration models. There was a unanimous consensus that this project holds great potential and significant importance, and will serve as a powerful catalyst for scientific innovation and industry development in the field of dental medicine between China and Finland.

In conclusion, Wang Yajie, Vice General Manager of LargeV, on behalf of the project team, expressed sincere gratitude to all the experts. He solemnly stated that all participating organizations are fully prepared and ready to begin the work. Following the kickoff meeting, the project team will take swift action to refine the implementation plan and ensure that each task is executed precisely.


The meeting was also attended by Cheng Wanhui, Director of the Industry Division at the Zhongguancun Science Park Management Committee, Yu Dongmei, Vice General Manager of LargeV, along with key project members and representatives from participating institutions, including Professor Xie Xianju, Director of the Orthodontics Department at Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Professor Wu Yiwei, Deputy Director of the Second Outpatient Department at Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Sun Yu, Director of the R&D Center at LargeV, Dr. Chen Wu, President of APAC Business at Detection Technology, Product Manager Li Shuai, and Customer Manager Yin Lishu.
